Apple iPod Touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) - A Quick Review

Apple iPod Touch 16 GB (2nd Generation) - A Quick Review
By Troy Richards

The second-generation Apple iPod touch closes the gap between the iPod and iPhone. No longer can it be considered a 'poor man's' iPhone. Its appearance and functionality look almost identical to the iPhone, barring the phone's earpiece slot and ability to surf the 3G airwaves.

The new iPod touch has added two excellent physical features, external volume control and an internal speaker. And for individuals who use their iPod touch primarily for listening to music, its sound quality far exceeds that of the iPhone.

The new Apple iPod touch has a sleek design and new stainless steel backing. The external volume controls provide much more versatile options for users on the go. Though the new built-in speaker may cause weary commuters pause, the quality of sound from it has vastly improved from both its previous version and the iPhone 3G.

The Apple iPod touch is for music aficionados for the sheer superiority of its sound quality. It doesn't suffer from degradation of sound that comes with the iPhone because it doesn't have to compete with radio frequency interference that is inherent with phone transmission requirements. Whenever RF (radio frequency) interference is inevitable, there will be a loss of sound quality.

When listening to dynamic material, from symphonic orchestrations to sustained piano concertos, or the pulse-pounding beats of bass and drums, or the wail of a powerful guitar solo, the iPod touch handles the frequency and separation with better quality, creating a musical experience that can only be matched by live performance. The Apple iPod touch has grown up. For music lovers, it is the only real choice.
